Dad got out the carpet cleaner and we hauled all the rugs outside
yesterday and now they're all drying and needing to go back where they
belong.
God cleans us. We get dirty, messed up and lose our place. But God gets out his carpet cleaner called Grace, cleans us all the way through and puts us back where we belong.
I was reading the book "Fearless" by Max Lucado and a sentence popped out at me. "Fear corrodes our confidence in God's goodness."
One of the fears he's pointing out is a fear of sinking too fast. Of God not being able to catch us. To clean us all the was through and pick us back up. We're afraid we've sunk too deep. We can't be helped. Fear of overwhelming challenges.
We fear, we worry, that God could never again look at this mess and call it beautiful. But he does.
We worry about our lives all the time, when we worry about the big things too long, we start to worry about the little ones too. But God still gets out little ol' Grace and is always standing by when we remember to cry out.
When we sink deep, when we get too muddy, something happens. When we get dirt in our eyes, it's hard to see. When we get mud in our mouth, it's hard to cry out. That's the dirt and grossness called fear and the worry of messing up that it gets hard to stop, slow down, relax and cry out to the one who will always -- always -- be right there with a wet rag to wipe off our face. Faith like a child. Face like a child. :)
That's beautiful right there. God actually majored in carpet cleaning, so he really does enjoy it when we cry out and accept his hose spraying us down and drying us off.
So what are you waiting for? Spit out that dirt. Cry out. He'll hear you. He'll take you in. I promise.
