Dayafterday..(thoughts on life #5)

I was just writing out some of my favorite songs.

I found that all of them were things like "In Christ Alone",  "How Deep The Fathers Love For Us", "Hold On To Me" etc.

But then I came to Jamie Grace's new song "Come to me". I realized one of the things I love most about God, one of the things that I think is so amazing, is just the fact that we have a God that we can go to with our troubles and burdens. A God who is actually excited when we say "I need help."

How cool is that? We serve a God who really cares and really wants to know how we're doing and wants to help us when we fall.

Today I was at a homeschool school (I don't get it either) called ZLO but in the hallway, they had this quote that Sonora pointed out to me and I loved it:

One Night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to him and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you you'd walk with me all the way, but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

So----Wow!! God carries us. God is there. And that should be enough to keep me going forever. Just the thought that God gets excited about helping the gross person that I am.

That he says "Come to me because I love you."

"Come to me when you're weary and I'll give you hope when you're hurtin' I'll give you  rest from your burden."

Praise the Lord.
