I think that one of my favorite things to hear in the whole world is when some one tells you that they love you.
Not like a romantic love (That's not bad, but that's not what I'm talking about!) but like a real heartfelt love.
The best feeling in the world that almost nothing can replace is when a child runs to you and wraps their arms around your neck, rests their head on your shoulder and whispers in your ear "I love you".
That is one of the many joys of working with children. Every Tuesday, Penny runs up to me and tells me that. But I can tell in her voice and her heart that, even though she is only 4 and is only beginning to learn about love, she really means it. And I love her back.
Notice, though, when I said that "The best feeling in the world that almost nothing can replace..." I meant that, in my mind, only really one thing can replace it. When you run to God and wrap your arms around his neck, rest your head on his shoulder and he whispers in your ear "I love you".
Sometimes that's the only thing I need in my day to pick me back up is that thought that God is always standing beside me with his arms open when I need to hear that he loves me. And he never fails to tell me every minute of my life.
I have been working on, as soon as I wake up in the morning, reminding myself of who I am--God's Beloved.
He loves you too, you know. Not just me. He loves you and I'm positive that, even if you're not looking for it, he will be there telling you he loves you with his arms open wide forever. Waiting for you to run into them, wrap your arms around his neck, rest your head on his shoulder and listen for his words. His words. "I Love You."
