Dissection and bones (Caution: graphic post!)

Throughout our entire Thanksgiving week, we saved the turkey heart, neck, liver and gizzard for one purpose.

As soon as I saw them I thought "Yes! Something to dissect with Dad!" Sure enough, later on we had the privilege of cutting open the cell walls to the different parts and seeing the insides of them!

It was especially cool to cut open the heart and see all the different valves and ventricals etc.
When you cut open a heart, though, prepare yourself for blood and redness. :)

Since Natalie was here, it was cool to cut open the neck too because we got to see the different vertebrae and even the C7 vertebrae that she broke! It was amazing to see how close she was to braking it to the point of reaching her spinal cord. In which case she would have been paralyzed. She was only about 2 millimeters away.

The neck! That red thing with the hole is a vertebrae!
