I watched that movie last night and I forgot how much I loved C.S. Lewis.
I think my favorite character in that movie and in those stories is Aslan. Mostly because he was written to be a God figure. And I love God, so it works out pretty well!
I seriously never realized it until I watched the movie last night why Aslan sacrificed himself! He died after sacrificing himself rather than the White Witch killing Edmund for his sins! He gave himself to cover our sins. I can't believe I never understood that in the book until now! But I guess I was pretty little the last time we read those books outloud.
I really like it when Aslan is explaining to Lucy and Susan about how he was raised to life again and says "If the Witch knew the true meaning of sacrifice, she might have interpreted the deep magic differently. That when a willing victim who has committed no treachery, is killed in a traitor's stead, the stone table will crack, and even death itself would turn backwards."
All in all, I love the way C.S. Lewis writes! He mixes such great humor with a great message from God. I have been reading so many of his quotes recently too and he was such a wise man! I kinda wish he was still alive, though! It might be fun to meet him!
