Mauthousen and such...

Well, Mauthiusen (MH) was pretty depressing.

You started out the tour thing with a documentary video that was pretty graphic.. I think the only one who actually enjoyed the movie was Dad!

After that you are free to roam around the camp. Now, if you've never been to or heard of MH, well, let's just say that it is a German concentration that was considered the most brutal camp of all of them.

They would starve the prisoners and then make them work. Most of the working was carrying boulders up what is called "the stairway of death". And for good reason. Those steps are the steepest steps I have ever climbed and the longest set of them too! There is to s more, but I don't want to tell you it myself...

A lot of the time Isaac and dad were looking at the physical side saying stuff like "whoa! Can you imagine how much blood there was?" and "I bet it stank so bad!". Whereas mom and I were thinking about the spiritual side of it. More like "it would've been incredibly hard to trust god in the situation." honestly, though. It would have been!

Anyway, we walked around there and after the movie I realized that I had lOts of thoughts running through my head that I was keeping inside and being really quiet. So I shared them and felt lots better. Mauthousen is not just one of those places where people died... It's pretty powerful! Plus, it's important that if you do see it or research it to not just look at the physical side, but the spiritual side.

Right before we got there, I read a chapter in my book about a girl really deciding to trust god in her super hard situation. I felt like I needed to listen to something in that chapter, but didn't know what. Then, we arrived a Mauthousen and I understood. God really is there. Even when you go through something as hard as MH. God puts you everywhere for a reason. Whether in bed or in a cave in -24 degree weather! It's hard to k ow why sometimes, but I think that, in time, he'll show you where you need to be and why.

This was more of one of those "what's on Leah's mind" post than a travel update, but everyone is falling asleep and I needed to get that out with words. So there you go!

Tomorrow, we go to The Eagles Nest and then get on a train to Halstatt! I'm excited! It's supposed to snow! :)

Have a good time in the fall while you can, it's pretty much already winter here.

Love forever to eah of you, Leah
